Being a parent is difficult enough these days without the ever changing and evolving apps that are accessible to our children. According to statista.com, in the first quarter of 2018, there were 3.8 million apps in the Google Play Store and 2 million in Apple’s App store. So how can any parent keep up? First, we need to educate ourselves, and that includes knowing the app’s rating, the age restriction of the app, who gets access to your child through the app, and understanding the default settings of the app as well. Next, do some research and find what other parents are saying about that app. Then sit down and have a conversation with your child. If you give permission for your child to download the app, then go into your child’s device and set parental restrictions to help safeguard your child. You will never regret your efforts.
